Food made with a smile

From the moment he could stand on 2 feet, Chef Lenny remembers the joy that came from cooking polenta with his grandmother Nuni A”H. Some people eat to live, some people live to eat, Chef Lenny lives to FEED. His greatest joy in life is seeing the smiles on his guests faces when they take a bite and feel the passion on their tastebuds.

When he decided to pursue cooking as a career he was 26 years old, married with one child and another one on the way. Chef Lenny moved his family to NYC where he worked for the best in the world of Kosher dining; Mike’s Bistro, Doma Land + Sea, and Alenbi. After gaining some experience in fine dining he moved back to his hometown where he was hired to open Charcoal Grill and Bar as the Executive Chef. After almost 2 years of sold-out nights the restaurant world came to a standstill in an instant when the Covid Pandemic forced restaurants to shut down operations.

With Hashem’s help, Chef Lenny was able to rehire his former staff in the peak of the shutdown and began the first Kosher ghost kitchen selling Kosher Mexican food out of the back entrance of Western Kosher Supermarket. Lenny’s Casita instantly won over the hearts of this city and his employees were finally making the food that they loved best.

Not long after Lenny’s Casita moved to a brick and mortar restaurant space, the Shabbat Shuk was born, bringing the flavors of Israel to people’s homes every Friday night.
